Some time ago I found myself browsing through Moore’s Some Main Problems of Philosophy, looking for a passage I wished to quote. The passage was not there, but I came across the following: “I hope Professor Wisdom was right in thinking that this book was worth publishing. It consists of twenty lectures which I delivered at Morley College in London in the winter of 1910-11.” The book, however, was only published in 1953.

“In general, thinking about philosophy and logic has always been for me the fun part of my work. I can get gripped by certain problems. Writing them up is, unfortunately, neither as much fun nor as gripping, though I do find that sometimes one does not really know one’s own thoughts precisely until they have been either properly presented in lectures or even written down.”
